Nick Blake has just returned from WWII with a case of PTSD, an uncertain future, and a love of the blues. Things are looking up when he meets Esmeralda Kurlansky, a bar girl at Chicago’s Flame Club, who takes a shine to his harmonica and negotiates his joining the Muddy Waters Blues Band. But when Esmeralda inherits a piece of land in California their lives take an even bigger turn. She and Nick embark on a road trip to claim their place in the sun.
It’s 1947 and the world’s on the cusp of tremendous change. Jack Kerouac has just set off on the road to San Francisco, the first motorcycle gang riots are shaking California, and the HUAC hearings investigating the communist influence in Hollywood are underway. Most remarkable are reports of the first UFO sightings in Roswell, New Mexico. Nick and Esmeralda become unwitting players in all of these events as they encounter a wild cast of characters on their journey across the country.
“THE CHRONICLE OF STOLEN DREAMS” consists of eight one-hour episodes that reimagine our history and explain how life was to totally change in America. It was all because of a spaceship that came from across the skies to harvest our dreams and use our deepest nightmares to power their planet back home. No wonder life on Earth turned so dark.
